A few things I have learned (After 5 days)

Australia is quite a nice place to be. Lots of space and a laid back feeling, although I have only been around the suburbs south of Sydney, the city may have a different feel. I have in the past few days learned a few things that I wasn’t aware of before coming out here...

Flying is easy. Lots of comedians make jokes about how awful flying is, but as long as you have an aircraft it's quite easy. No delays, no ash cloud, I didn’t get intercepted by fighter jets over Afghanistan, no babies crying, I opened the bag of peanuts with no hassle, I didn’t have any Rob Schneider movies ruining my journey and I didn’t have to take my shoes off at any point in the journey.

Australians pronounce ‘data’ ‘Dar-Tar’
It must be true,
it's displayed as a pie chart!

Also, more importantly, to sell alcohol in the UK one person on the premises needs a licence, however in Australia every individual who sells alcohol needs an RSA certificate, which as far as I can tell is the same as a personal licence. It costs up to $85 and you need to go on a course/do an online course.
So now you know. AND KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE...

Now a special note to comedian Stewart Lee,
You may joke all you like about people being impressed by the size of the prawns, but the prawns over here are really big! And the quality of life is much better, Stew, the prawns are really big, much bigger than the prawns you get in Britain, Stew. MASSIVE PRAWNS, STEW!

On a note from back here, suns been out since you left, we are off to see rough divide and twist bone valley tomorrow, and I am saving hard to get that cardboard cut out of you for my gig buddy and .... other more personal uses that we shall not discuss as it might get a little weird between us

  2. Well I'll be starting my adventure properly next week. Gonna move into a hostel and get my RSA certificate and then hopefully get some work. I might bump into them when I'm sightseeing but It's a big country so I might miss them.

  3. Did you see citizen Smith...alias Jake slept through the chance to be an anarchist so they missed marching on Parliament...and just went to Hyde Park for the concert instead! Who says socialism is dead...
    Love the Stewart Lee clip.
Will skype you on Monday - or will you not be available.
Good luck with the hostel search.

  4. Maybe Rik from the Young Ones isn't such a good role model after all.
I should be on Skype Monday, email me what sort of time (we are 10 hours ahead here) and I'll make sure I'm online.
